LMU’s FILM OUTSIDE THE FRAME 2012 Film Festival & Awards Ceremony at Paramount

Film Outside the Frame is LMU SFTV’s annual student film festival and awards ceremony which honors both current and former students, including distinguished alumni, in all areas of filmmaking.

This year’s festivities were held on October 27 in the Paramount Theater on Paramount Pictures’ Studio Lot. As you can see in the photo gallery below, it was our very own red carpet event.

This year I was part of the SFTV team responsible for the production, which meant spending two days on the Paramount lot in rehearsals, then setting up the space and working the event on Saturday. It’s incredibly cool to have a drive-on pass to a studio lot, and when it happens three times in a couple of weeks, you start to feel like it’s something you could really get used to.

This year’s very special and extremely talented alum and keynote speaker was David Mirkin — a producer, writer, and director, most notable for his work on The Simpsons. It’s always exciting to hear from past LMU students who went on to achieve tremendous success, especially on a night when some of our own students are going up to the podium to accept their awards.

Each year when I watch the nominated student films and see the talent, skillful storytelling, and technical expertise exhibited by my fellow students, I’m proud and honored to have the ongoing chance to learn and grow as a filmmaker at LMU SFTV.
